Alkaline Balancing
Drink Your Way to Alkalinity
Alkaline Fruits, Vegetables, Grasses & Algae
ALKALIZE with drinks of green juices, algae drinks, green grasses and types of baking sodas,
rather than with foods.
These green drinks are more affective in alkalizing the body as they do not require digestion such as with foods, therefore they go directly into the bloodstream.
Testing the pH of interstitial fluid (ISF)—often approximated by testing urine or saliva in alternative medicine—is used to monitor the body's acid-base balance, which influences metabolism, nutrient absorption, and disease risk. An acidic environment in the interstitial space (pH < 7.35) can indicate metabolic stress, chronic fatigue, or inflammation.

Why Test Interstitial Fluid (ISF) pH?
-
Disease Prevention & Metabolic Health: The ISF acts as a "trash can" for cellular waste. When overworked, it becomes acidic, which is linked to metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, and potentially cancer.
-
Nutrient Absorption: Proper, slightly alkaline pH is required to absorb essential vitamins and minerals.
-
Chronic Inflammation: Acidic environments (low pH) are associated with chronic pain and inflammatory conditions.
-
Monitoring Wellness: It acts as a gauge for dietary and lifestyle changes, as extreme acidity often indicates a need to change dietary habits.

Alternative Medicine Approaches to Balance pH
Alternative practitioners typically focus on "alkalizing" the body to neutralize excess acidity.
-
Dietary Adjustments (The Alkaline Diet):
-
Increase Green Foods: Consume more alkaline-forming foods like spinach, kale, avocado, and spirulina.
-
Reduce Acidic Foods: Decrease consumption of processed foods, refined sugars, caffeine, alcohol, and high meat intake.
-
-
Alkalizing Drinks:
-
Lemon Water: Drinking water with fresh lemon juice in the morning is recommended to help the kidneys produce more bicarbonate, which buffers acid.
-
-
Supplementation:
-
Alkaline Minerals: Supplementing with potassium, magnesium, and calcium citrates to help neutralize excess acid.
-
Systemic Enzymes: Using enzymes like serrapeptase to assist in reducing inflammatory waste.
-
Herbal Support: Using herbs to improve renal function and detoxification.
-
-
Lifestyle Changes:
-
Stress Management: High stress increases cortisol and adrenaline, which can produce acid; meditation and yoga are recommended.
-
Movement: Regular, moderate exercise (e.g., brisk walking) helps improve circulation and lymphatic flow to remove acidic waste.
-
Breathing Exercises: Proper breathing helps remove carbon dioxide, a major source of acidity.
-

The Chart above shows which food make the body slightly alkaline at pH 7.2-7.4 It definitely indicates that fruits and vegetables encourage alkalinity while proteins and carbohydrates create acidity causing irritation and inflammation. The best way to favorably shift the pH is to drink your way there with alkaline drinks that will go alkalize directly.

Liquid drinks that alkalize are fruit and vegetable juices, green grasses of alfalfa grass, wheatgrass, barley grass and algae such as spirulina, chlorella, dunaliella, sea moss, and other sea vegetables. The best alkalizers are the green liquids.

How much to drink would be first to determine if the body is in a health alkaline state or not. The only way to know would be to pH test the urine with Litmus Paper. Then check the strip of paper against the pH scale that the litmus paper came with. When buying, select a roll of paper that will look dark green close to a pH of 7 that would look bluish, as shown in the diagram above. You could start by testing 3x a day before any food. If the body needs more alkaline salt, the urine should be evaluated in the evening before bed, mid afternoon, and first thing in the morning after arising. Hopefully you will test slightly alkaline, if not, take an alkalinity drink to put you back in the zone.
